Pain in area of anastomosis; waiting for stoma reversal

Postby mezcam on Mon Jul 26, 2010 10:46 pm

Hi, My husband is recovering from radiochemotherapy (5 weeks) rectal surgery and chemotherapy (18 weeks), and waiting for his stoma reversal operation (he has an ileostomy) . Ever since the surgery he has had episodes of pain/nasty discomfit in the area where the join is (there first 6 - 8 weeks after surgery this was really bad, he was using painkillers throughout bthat time) It seems to be accompanied by mucus and a bit of bleeding. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who could tell us how the experience has been for them, and how they have managed after the stoma reversal.
Thanks,

Mary
