I have a loved one that has been recently diagnosed with early stage lung cancer due to second hand smoke and family history of cancer. He has received some chemotherapy and radiation to rid a good percentage of the cancer from his lungs, but a tumor still remains. His doctor has recommended surgery. He is only 21 years of age. I want the very best and safest surgical procedure for him. Ive read some about VATS (video assisted thorospoic surgery) that is less invasive and safer. Does anyone here have any experience with this procedure?
Or does anyone have names of hospitals in NZ that they have or known someone who had a very successful lobectomy to remove lung cancer?
