Two cancers in one year - can you believe it?

Postby LCA on Thu Jul 29, 2010 6:27 pm

Hi
Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer, hopefully treated early (time will tell), op, radiation - no chemo fortunately. Now I have been diagnosed with a very rare fibroblastic sarcoma - am recovering from having two recent operations, the last one for plastic surgery - radiation required again when I have recovered. Feel that I am dealing with this very well but unsure whether "it will really hit me" but staying strong for family. Talking to others going through cancer treatment and sharing your thoughts welcome.
PS - love to know if anyone else has had fibroblastic sarcoma?

Hi LCA,
I am sorry to read about you having 2 cancers so soon together, while I can't know exactly what you are going through and how you will feel in the future, this site and making your feelings known to us members can be of some help and support, also the Cancer Information Nurses phone- 0800-226-237 are there to help and talk to and they are just wonderful, so if you want to give them a call.
I have just had prostate cancer and an operation, now awaiting a blood test result to come in but have to wait until October to see if any cancer is left or spread further, hate the waiting thing and also like you maybe having 2 cancers so soon, I may now have skin cancer as well, but again I am having to wait to see the hospital specialist, so hope the news is not to bad. There are some amazing people contained with in this CancerChat site and you are always welcome to come back here to make contact with them and me. I hope that all goes well with you and that you have excellent support, be able to talk to people who are close to you or not, I have no one as I live on my own but have had great support from many other people including Nurse Julie from Cancer Society 0800 number. You must be able to talk to people when you need to, it is very important to get things out and off your chest, don't be afraid as you are not alone, so I hope that you have someone that will listen to you.
All my very best and please feel free anytime to contact me should you wish.
Warm regards,
Gerard.

Hi Gerard
Thank you so much for your reply - it is great to know that there is support out there for me when needed - appreciate we all have our stories and everyone's is different to a degree, but we all have the one thing in common, cancer.
I am very lucky as have a very supportive family but it is great talking to someone who "has walked the road" so to speak. I cannot begin to understand how it is for you but I too can listen and learn how to cope through other members different experiences.
Look forward to talking to you further.
Best wishes
Leone

Hi Leone,
How is it all with you these days, hope things are more positive for you, it is a shame that no one else has replied to your and my posts, things seem a bit dead on this site most of the time, I have tried to get things and people more active on here and to help others with their stories and words of support, but as you can tell not much I am sorry to see. I am doing my bit and my best.
Have you looked at my new posts of Inspiring Stuff, quotes, nice poems, jokes etc, if you have any please post them. I find that no matter how bad we can sometimes get or how depressed that having a good laugh and a nice inspiring message can be a big help and cheer you up, after all it is easier to laugh and have nice and warm thoughts than it is to be sad and depressed.
We can all do with some bright spark in our lives and in our day.
It would be good to hear from you again soon.
Best wishes,
Gerard.
